Crew members disappear in teleporter room

Hey all,

I've just ran into something that must be a bug:

Using the Federation Cruiser (variant A), I've had 2 Mantis as a boarding crew, usually sitting in the teleporter room ready to board. Had it like this for a sector or two without a prob. After a jump, one of them disappeared. :shock: No accident, no damage, no text message, he was just gone.

At first I assumed I had missed an event making me lose him and skipped over the corresponding text message (however unlikely), and proceeded to make one of my human crew members the 2nd boarding guy.

The next jump when that human sat in the same spot in the teleporter room (right-hand side room tile) - he disappeared as well, just like that.

I'll investigate further while I can, but for now I'm guessing it's that room tile that is bugged. I haven't had this before, so I'm not sure I'll be able to reproduce this bug in another game.

Welcome Rook.

Never heard of such a thing before. Do you have the saved game by any chance? It could be an uber-rare bug.

If by saved game you mean is it my current, continuable game, then yes. Any way for me to give it to you?

Yes, it is saved in .../Users/USERNAME/My Documents/My Games/Faster Than Light as continue.sav. That's for Win7 at least, if you have a different OS it maybe in a different location. You can email that file along with a description of the bug to: zasdarq@ftlgame.com - That way the developers can take at look at it and maybe figure out the problem.

I presume that you havent used any mods? Sometimes mods can introduce strange effects.

It's highly unlikely the bug would continue from a save game and be reproduce-able, sadly. That is definitely a unique and annoying glitch. Your theory of the event removing the crew does make the most sense... but since you checked for that I don't know what could be causing it. Does it continue after you reload it? Does it happen in every ship with a teleporter?

Found it, but wanted to investigate just a little further before I send it in (see Matthew's post) - and then the first combat engagement I had killed me. :roll: So no savegame, but then the glitch didn't rear its head in the 3 jumps I did.

No mods, just straight out-of-the-box FTL V.1.03.1.

Yeah, especially since I lost a 2nd guy that way as well, and made damn sure this time around I did not miss any in-game event that would cause that.
Does it continue after you reload it?
Apparently it didn't. Like I said above, after continuing the game now, I was able to make 3 jumps with no problem, then got destroyed.
Does it happen in every ship with a teleporter?
I'll see about that. Until yesterday, I've never had this happen with either Kestrel, Torus, or Fed A (which are the only ships I've run with so far) - and I make quite liberal use of teleporters whenever I can. ;) I don't really expect this bug to show up again, especially if I'm apparently the only one who's ever had it. If it does make another appearance, I'll holler.

Not to worry, the purpose of that run was just to get a certain Fed Cruiser achievement, which I did. :mrgreen: It was a pretty good run up until people started disappearing, but then again, the Auto-Drone that just killed me would've most likely gotten me regardless. ;)
