That's alright, I'm also very rusty with my FTL skills. I think League of Legends is rotting my brain. Next thing you know, I'll be under attack and constantly hitting Q and wondering why my guns are not firing a massive blast of sound.
And I'll yell about it on camera, then realise wrong game.
I'm a very casual gamer. Except when it comes to FTL funnily enough. I'll be upset if I wasted an hour working to my death, but if it's FTL, I suck it up and try again another day. But if my first five minutes on the other hand...

That's what I like to hear ^^ I really do not often like a casual gamer as I am on the opposite end. I play the game for typically a thousand hours+ and I soak up every bit of lore there is and back story and when that is done I use theory to possibly connect the dots. I often love talking about the game(s) but when the person I want to talk to is a casual gamer who can't tell the difference between Jarl Bulgraaf and Ulfric Stormcloak how do I have hope in talking about the moth priests: the identity of the spectral assassin from the dark brotherhood, the Brass god, etc? (I only went skyrim nerd just then only because I caught your oblivion reference earlier: "Stop right there criminal scum! you violated the law").
However if the casual at least plays 1 game as a main I get a bit happier about the persons existence in a way xD even if it isn't a game I can relate too. (luckily for me your main is FTL!)

Oblivion is as far back as I know about the Elder Scrolls. And that game was so slow that whenever I got into a melee battle with more than one wild animal, the game would slow right the hell down. Fallout 3 didn't do that and that was more advanced.R4V3-0N wrote:That's what I like to hear ^^ I really do not often like a casual gamer as I am on the opposite end. As for Skyrim, I played one full game, tried to do as many quests as I could, but avoided the Dark Brotherhood (killed the guy) because I wasn't the assassin kind of person.
I had a halfway finished game with a sorceress/fighter/archer/everything but the game bugged out due to a mod (magic duel) and I was unable to negotiate a peace treaty because I couldn't sit down. Reminded me of this from Family Guy:

So y'know, that was disappointing. But I had my fun with my sorceress/unarmed fighter. Then never picked it up again or bought the DLCs.
FTL is more like my Fallback Game. When I need something to play and I can't think of something, FTL fills in the gap for an hour or so. Especially CE Infinite where I can spend a few more hours... and still die at the end because I didn't upgrade enough. However if the casual at least plays 1 game as a main I get a bit happier about the persons existence in a way xD even if it isn't a game I can relate too. ya know, I still never tried CE infinite (or even normal infinite) or attempted to do the infinite loot extension either....stylesrj wrote:Oblivion is as far back as I know about the Elder Scrolls. Infinite is the ultimate example of spending several hours building up the biggest, baddest ship you can... and losing it to the Flagship as soon as it breathes on it (or Phase 3. Stupid Defense Drone II)ya know, I still never tried CE infinite (or even normal infinite) or attempted to do the infinite loot extension either....
Haven't tried Endless Loot. I explained my reasons why many of a time.

What strategy do you have to use for these ships?(note: I am running CE and crystal cataclysm) As i keep dying in sector 1-2 every-time I play these ships, and it was mentioned earlier that these ships "force" a player to adopt a strategy.FederationScumX1999 wrote:Flying specialized craft, especially if they have a perk unique to their class, forces a specific play style for the entirety of gameplay. With the cruisers, all unique strategies eventually whittled away to make room for reliable system combos which, in most cases, leads to similar endgame builds. This does not mean that the ships become homogeneous, only that the ship caters to whatever play style you're most comfortable with usually.R4V3-0N wrote:Yep, it's quite good to finally get this thing updated. Right now I am not quite sure what to work on next so I am simply going to continue working on my weapon pack for energy weapons (lasers and beams).
I have to say it's kinda weird we both went for a "player-enemy esque" ship as our first mod... most people just tend to make odd cruisers that half the time is OP.
With smaller ships like frigates (or dare I say, corvettes, like the scout ships), you have less interior space (if you want to keep things attractive and avoid clutter) and a weaker hull. Their capabilities may match a cruiser on some levels, but they are limited in others. Enemy ships encountered in-game often utilize the same systems which give a sense of what kind of functions they are supposed to have, thus they are attractive candidates to use for playable specialized craft.
An example is how my Lanius Bombers were only allowed to install Teleporting, Cloaking, and Mind Control for special systems. Aside from Oxygen (which was always left out initially), the ship's systems were perfectly reflective of what enemy Lanius Bombers could come equipped with. You're pretty much forced to utilize the odd mixture of systems that people would rarely, if ever, use on a cruiser. Again, also, the ships are less durable and the visual difference in size can be astounding when you're taking on the Flagship (or cruisers in CE). It's a more linear experience, but nonetheless memorable.
