Try this. Not nearly as easy to use, but free, unlimited, and compresses video on the fly.

The thing is, I'm always cautious of those things, they always seem to carry a virus or something and not work.

Softpedia is blocked on the school PC's.Reason stated: "Site previously known to host malware", this is alongside FTL being blocked for "Inappropiate content" though (it normally has a different message for games related sites/forums)

I don't trust softpedia either, but that program turned out ok. I went through five or six different aps before and tried it as a last resort. None of the highest ranked suggestions were unlimited, completely free, capable of recording directx and openGL, able to record audio as well as video or able to record FTL.
I'd hate to recommend malware even by accident, but i really had no issues. If there was something that was ticked to install alongside the app, i can't remember. So many that i tried had crap toolbars and whatnot ticked that i lost track.
Well, don't take my word for it, scan it before installing and block with a firewall. It pays to be safe.
EDIT: A bit of google searching hits that the program was offered for download from some sites via a "handy download manager". Right. It's also featured on plenty of shitty software sites, so i have to admit it does look bad.
Recommend you beware where you download from or avoid. Just because the program doesn't pack malware, doesn't mean the same can be said of the various websites hosting it.
