So someone: HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP
Or I will die of frustration.

Re: IDEA: Federation carrier.
Have you tried using the archive extractor already on your computer? You know, the one you normally use to open compressed files or .zip files.
.ftl is sort of like that.
You don't need to break into resources.dat to build a custom hull. Superluminal can already create an .ftl file with the images you need.
All you then have to do is add your own images to the archive and link to them in the blueprints.xml.append that Superluminal provides.

..But why? That makes a mess of things, you should leave those files alone.Stormbringer wrote:So someone: HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP

You can unpack the ftls by renaming them to zip and opening them up with a default windows tool. Then edit them, and I think 'Send To..'>'Archived folder' to repack. Or get a portable version of something else if you can't install. Then just edit it however you want. FTL mods are mostly just xml text (aside from pictures and sounds, anyway), you can edit all of that with just the notepad.

Stormbringer, are you the same person who made the Crown of Thorns or does your younger sibling occasionally use your account from time-to-time, because if you opened up your .ftl file (which you had and even uploaded) or any for that matter, there is no resources.dat. Just a bunch of images and files labelled .xml.append.

no, I did make the crown of thorns, but since it doesnt have any custom stuff I dont have any experience in making custom weapons and drones.
and will FTL unpacker do?
also: I dont have winzip, so I'll need to pester my dad to get it.
and yes, I may be considered underage, but I dont have siblings (listen to my voice in this vid)

Re: IDEA: Federation carrier.
The Crown of Thorns does have custom stuff. The entire hull is custom. A hull consisting of spliced hulls is still a custom hull. It leaves a lot of images too (even the interior ones.)
Look at how everything is coded inside that .ftl file's "data" folder. Your answers lie in there.
I'm not going to give a long tutorial on how to code a ship because I think there's already one out there and someone will be able to link to it.

At least from Vista onwards, windows should be able to open zip files just by double clicking them in the explorer. Just need to rename them to make sure it knows what they are.
Well, you can pick the images from Superluminal. Doesn't require opening the ftl quite yet.stylesrj wrote:The Crown of Thorns does have custom stuff. The entire hull is custom. A hull consisting of spliced hulls is still a custom hull. It leaves a lot of images too (even the interior ones.)
