IDEA: Federation carrier.

this is an idea for a op ship mod. it would have lvl 16 drones and shields, zoltan shield, 6-8 drone slots and 2 weapon slots hull: rebel battlecruiser recolour with fed cruiser engines. drone reskins: combat 1: fed scoout. beam 1: fed bomber
comb. 2: fed corvette (rebel corvette (CE) reskin)
beam 2: rebel fighter in fed colours.

This isn't a working mod and so the thread is in the wrong place. You should have posted it in this forum: http://www.ftlgame.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=12

Also, the idea sounds infeasible. Level 11+ shields has a problem where asteroid belts have dramatically increased number of asteroids (think vulcan-like speed); level 9+ engines reset evasion to 10% (they aren't better than level 8 engines).

I think I'm gonna call BS on the asteroid fields going to ridiculous levels with level 11+ shields.
Just went into MTE with the Zoltan Flagship and the asteroids never got my shields past two layers. They seemed to come in quickly but they always ruin your Zoltan Shield in seconds regardless.

The Stormrider is essentially the Combat Drone but a little bit faster and more fiery and all it took was adding a new image.
I wouldn't know how to make an altered Defence Drone model though. I think it requires an animations sheet for the turret to move, etc.

the fact is that whenever I change data.dat or resource.dat, I apparently need C++ to let it work, and I have no idea of how to convert to .ftl
also: I have figured out how to do the hull (my old man installed gimp2) and if someone does the drones for me, they will get credit!!!

There's some sort of unpacker out there that'll show all the nitty-gritty details (and thus allow you to use them as assets in Superluminal if they're not there already when you select "database")

Besides, all you need is a notepad program. Call your .xml file or .txt file an .xml.append
Then throw that into a .zip file and call it a .ftl

Basically you don't need to alter the game files directly. Didn't you design the Crown of Thorns? Use that as your template.
Most of my stuff is derived from my earlier works.

Yeah... I made the crown of thorns using superluminal and... I dont have the priveleges to install stuff, and I tried to code an op 10-damage beam, but I needed 'Visual C++, but I couldn't get it because I do not have admin.
so I cannot code like that... sorry. Can someone do it, make it as a .ftl file, then I can save it with my carrier.
It could also be part of a bigger overhaul...

You don't need C++ to make weapons, drones or ships.
Use Notepad++ (it's free!) or even Wordpad (comes with standard Windows systems) to design your ships.

Look at other ship mods, open up those .ftl files with an archive extractor (like WinRAR, also free) and view the code that way in your notepad program of choice.
