If your display is smaller the game shouldn't work, but it sounds like that's not a problem for you. Your problems are probably caused by the Intel video drivers which are known to be incompatible in some cases, usually on notebooks or previous generation integrated graphics adapters.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem like you can improve OpenGL support with Intel's drivers, but you might try checking here. If you can't play the game on your machine, you can ask for a refund.

Very sorry you have to jump through hoops to play FTL. :?

Can you email me the save files that it's creating that causes the crash? Odd to be happening consistently. My email address is zasdarq@ftlgame.com

Indeed this is very odd. I think I know 1 possible cause and thats about it. Editing your prof.sav (Libraries > My Documents > My Games > FasterThanLight) can potentially cause this bug.

How do I know you ask? Because I'm stupid enouth to acsidentally edit the thing after looking at it. (I am curious, you know.)

*EDIT* Apparently, if you restore to your previous version, this is fixed.
