Got astronomically low odds with lvl 3-4 engines

Title says all.
I was using a Slug cruiser, I think type B but not sure. With engines upgraded once or twice I suddenly got the achievement in the middle of a fight, can´t remember the specific amount. They were fully powered and fully manned(helm and engine room), though.
Correct me if I´m wrong, but I assumed you were supposed to have fully upgraded and fully powered engines.

First I heard of that. After playing many games, I only got it the first time I fully upgraded my engines.

Mataza is correct. The description is misleading. The game doesn't check if your engines are fully upgraded, instead it checks if your evasion is high enough. With a skilled engineer your evasion can be high enough to get the achievement even before you max out the engines.

I was puzzled by the same thing when i unlocked it, because i never upgrade engines fully.

The code actually is very specifically checking if the engine level is 8. I'll have to look into why you'd get it in other situations. Thanks for reporting this!

Well that's odd then. I was sure it was evasion because the engine wasn't upgraded enough and the engineer bonus was the only explanation.

It was previously mentioned in this thread, and beam hits blocked by shields counting towards the achievement were discussed here.
