This is a simple xdelta patch which disables the check for if you have too many crew members. This has only been lightly tested so far though, so I'm going to leave it in development. I don't think I have seen anything about this posted, but if someone has already done this, I will remove it.
You will need to use an xdelta3 patcher to apply the patch to ftl.exe (I recommend using https://github.com/jmacd/xdelta-gpl/releases since I cannot find anything simpler. Place the patch and xdelta in the same folder as your FTL directory, and run the following command you need to use is:
This will make a copy of the exe with the patch applied. You can just replace the base exe, but I recommend you back that up first if you don't want to use steam repair)
I had the game crash when out of fuel and the fleet caught up to me. Relaunching the game put me prior to my "wait" click and I was able to "continue" on.
If you look at the dismiss crew tab of your ship, it won't let you click accept until you clear all but 8 crew. You can just hit escape to get out of this window.
Various UI gore because no one intended for this many crew members to be present (the crew list on the left of your HUD overflows to the bottom of the screen, you can only see 9 crew members on the dismiss crew tab, etc.)
Wow, this is pretty amazing. Honestly I dont know why anyone hasn't pointed this out yet.
You know you don't have to keep this in Mod Dev, you can put it in working mods. Considering that its fully functional.

My biggest concern is that there would be some game breaking bug, but I guess that can't really be found without more people testing... How would I go about moving to the other section?
I dunno, theres only been one other hard coded mod that I've seen thats functional (I never got it to work though), but it did "supposedly" have limitless crew. You could always join the FTL server (this isnt sponsored I swear) if you havent already and theres a lot of people on there who could help, and in a lot more user friendly and active environment than these forums.
