My best way to beat the BOSS so far

I used Kestrel this time. It is a nice ship, very balanced and its weapon combination very easy to start with. Honestly I have never defeat the boss with other ships in normal (I haven't got Zoltan, Crystal, so they do not count, F cruiser is over powered, so it does not count).

With really good luck, I have equipped my ship with 2x burst leaser mark 2, 1 x ion plasma and 1 x ion plasma 2. This combination is really over powered, since, I have got them,I couldn't recall any ship which is able to hurt mine (I normally just lock down enemy ship's O2 room and wait its crews to die, the only thing I need to worry is don't let my leasers kill the ship well I uses them to contain enemies' rooms like weapon).

[Evasion > Shields?]
have got my shield level 3 and evasion full. I personally prefer max evasion to max shield because 4 layer shields is useless when facing normal enemy but also useless when facing the final boss. Honestly, which enemy can keep his weapon room functional when he managed to peel of 3 layers of your shield? Talking about the boss, does one extra layers of shields actually matters when the boss is pointing you with his weapons which can shoot 12 bullets per round?

[How I played]
First phase of the boss is easy, I locked his shields and piloting room down with my two ion weapons like how I treat normal enemy and also destroyed his missiles and invisibility room and kill the crew inside. For the sake of next phase of the boss, I think I have killed another crew as well (with 3 leasers shooting at a immobilized ship, not every crew can manage to run to the med bay).

Second phase, it used to be very hard....
I have reduced the power on invisibility to two to make sure the invisibility function will be cooled down fast enough for every wave of the power surge. And.... I messed it up. I'm a typical coward who heat close combat, and I get really nervous when I have intruders. So, my first natural reaction to fight the boss is turning on my invisibility function when I think the boss is sending crews to tele bay.... Lucky, with evasion over 50% and 3 layers of shields, no drone managed to hurt my ship during the power surge.
Intruders are not really that hard to deal with, as I have got one rock, one manti and one crystal. The anti-personnel drones was a little bit pain but the humans are hopeless. The first wave of intruders were teleported to a room outside the room where my crystal man is...they dead because of insufficient oxygen. Then, the boss hardly have any crews. the second wave of intruders is composed by one human only. When I noticed him, he was half killed by my mantis and rock man already (anyway, why did computer send his crew into the room where my defence squad is?).

Third phase...

I put invisibility back to 3 and actived it when the boss start to fire, and when my invisible time finished, the boss' shield and invisible function has been locked down. Anyway, he still managed to heat my ship once....

Err... who agree with me that 3 phases of the boss is very unevenly designed? Power surge, intruding, all the difficult things happens in the 2nd phase. Will it be better if we can get power surge to the 3rd phase? Because power surge looks really like the final struggle of a beast. At the same time, we got more chance to pass phase two... If you think this change will make the final boss too easy, what about turn the boss ship to AI controlled totally (All crews dead in phase 2, so the boss turns into computer and drones only, cool...).
