Need help installing

Need help installing
I have a question for installing mods..for the files that our supposed to be .ftl files the files i dowloand are append files which i have no clue what that is can some one help me with installing mods? thanks

".append" files are one type of file that should be included inside an ".ftl"; there is no reason for you to be downloading them separately.
Contribute to help save the Whales from their various diseases! *DELAYED* Should release the skeleton with the main quests attached by the end of the week (By NOV 9)! *DELAYED* Don't listen to my dates! Things always seem to come up!

Well something like the obsidian cruiser or enhanced galaxy backround when i open it it opens in winwar and are called append files

How do i do that since when i download a mod it goes to winwar.... im not really good with files

1) Right click on the link that downloads the file. This is not always the link that says "DOWNLOAD" in the post, as sometimes that link goes to another page where the download is (as in the case of Kieve's Obsidian Cruiser).
2) A window will pop up. Navigate to "Mods" in your faster than light folder.
3) Hit save
4) Launch GMM
5) Make sure the mod is highlighted and click "OK"
6) Launch FTL

so i right clicked the download button in purple and there is no "Navigate" man i really bad at this...
