[wip][ship] the Emergency (working name)

Ok, so I'm pretty bad at not modding.

Inspired by sul's CRAZE mod and Stylesrj, I (half) present to you this utter train wreck.

Lore concept:
An escape ship for Zoltan royalty, this ship is tiny and only built for very short trips.
Notably, the ship has a very small reactor, and no life support.
While passengers are held comfortably in stasis on teleport pads, the crew have to rely on their limited oxygen supply and their own power to keep themselves and their cargo alive.
But how will the crew fare when the fate of the galaxy is placed on their ship's fragile shoulders?


Gameplay notes/concept:
  • The ship starts fully loaded, so there is no customisation beyond weapons, drones and upgrades
  • The ship is capped at 5 reactor power. You can buy more, but you'll never be able to use it (currently this is 70% true because I need to add code to reduce any events that alter reactor power)
  • Your power will mostly come from Zoltans and the Backup Battery.
  • The ship has both a Zoltan Shield augment and an edited Emergency Respirators that -almost- negates oxygen damage
  • The ship has 3 drone slots and 4 weapons slots, but one will always be filled with the Stasis Generator:
  • Stasis Generator is a bomb weapon heals crew as slowly as the game allows. It doesn't use missiles, but it does stun crew for 3 seconds. The sounds and visuals need extended to make them loop better.
  • Backup Battery, Shields, Weapons and Drone Control have all had their maximum level increased to help make the final levels bearable (this is, of course, untested and conceptual)
Overall, the ship alternates between being powerful and weak every 20-30 seconds, and that difference will get more and more pronounced as the game goes on.

As ever, I do not guarantee that it's even possible to beat the game with this ship. But that's not really the point, is it?




I'm posting this here now because I'm already dreading finishing the ship (loads of UI, gibs, weapon anims, etc to do, let alone actually cleaning up the Hull/Room art and balancing the gameplay)

Well it's an interesting take on the Oxygen-free ships, it's not quite the same as "Healing Respirators" as I was thinking you should design a ship for.

If you need a name better than The Emergency, how about... ummm The Regent?
Because you kinda throw one of them into power when in an emergency and regents are an authority figure or have something to do with the law I suppose.
