Hello fellow skywalkers!

I have played FTL for a while now, and I've racked up close to 100 hours (not a lot, but man does an FTL game go on for an eternity.) I was always curious about the potential for modding, and lo and behold there are a wealth of tools to do so! I downloaded a few programs, fired up GIMP and Notepad++, and got to working. I'm not sure what exactly I plan on making, but so far, I've experimented with a lot and come up with a few cool additions. I am hoping to come up with a lot, enough to deem this mod an overhaul. Here's a peek into what I've done so far:

Image Railgun
Power: 2
Cost: 40
Damage: 1-2
Cooldown: 10
The railgun fires a combined laser-and-debris projectile that can wreak havoc on unshielded ships with the potential for breaching and igniting. Hosting a bundle of these bad boys will help you rip apart your enemies in just a few volleys.

Image Chain Railgun
Power: 4
Cost: 100
Damage: 1-2
Cooldown: 15.0 (base)
A unique modification of the Vulcan laser chain gun, this formidable weapon fires railgun projectiles at increasingly closer intervals. Enough charges and this gun comes close to tearing apart your target apart on its own.

Image Plasma Cannon
Power: 2
Cost: 55
Damage: 2
Cooldown: 14
The plasma cannon passes through shields, melts holes in the hull, and disrupts and might ignite your enemy's systems. This overpowered addition to your arsenal may be slow, but the advantage it offers in combat is invaluable.

Image Plasma Cannon Mark II
Power: 3
Cost: 80
Damage: 3
Cooldown: 18
This improved version of the plasma cannon is even more deadly. The power-cost-damage trade-off may just make it worth it for your build.

In addition to the weapons above, this mod will contain more unique events, more sector classes, more drones, and potentially a new, more deeply involved story.

Given that the school semester is just beginning again, development may be slow. However, I will keep this thread up to date and try my best to quickly answer any questions or requests!

(On another note, anybody know if there is a [spoiler] tag or similar I could use to shorten this thread a little?)
