[WIP][MOD]Crew Portrait Graphics

I thought the crew could use some faces. So I went ahead and made Nathan Fillion's (because why not) face for the male human. Complete with random hair colour. I plan on making portraits for all crew types. So for all the aliens I can create some cool detailed faces. Any suggestions are of course also welcome.

The portraits are visible in the crew menu and in the hangar. The actual crew sprites on the ship are unchanged. This is just meant as an addition to the existing crew.

Is is possible to change the crew icons on the left hand side of the screen without changing the actual on-ship crew sprites?

Unfortunatly not; the cre list uses the same frame as the 'idle' frame.
The idle frame is taken from the first frame of the 'walk down' cycle.
I mean, you *can* alter just that frame, but it messes with the walkcycle.

You /can/ change the image used in the hanger, when you're customising them; it's the image in the bottom left hand corner on all crew sheets.

You would also have to re-save all the 'base' and 'layer1' sheets to do this, meaning that your mod would be more-or-less incompatable with other sprite-changing mods- if you were worried about that sorta thing.

Hmm, re-reading my post, it may have sounded discouraging...
There's always work arounds (for example, one of my spritesheets uses a rest pose that works into the downward walk cycle)

What were you planning on doing?

I was actually planning on completely replacing the icons with portraits to give it a bit more character.

So instead of making a new thread for the actual mod. I just repurposed this one for it. I updated the first post with a preview.

Humans are of course mostly straight forward. It's a good idea to base a face on a real person. but other than that, humans are common and uninteresting.

If you guys have any suggestions for which direction I should go in for the alien designs. Don't hesitate to post suggestions. I think I might make the Zoltan, Mantis or Slug next.

I made the Zoltan and Mantis now. I gotta say, I'm really happy how the Mantis turned out. I tried to make it look menacing to fit the theme of the Mantis.
I tried to make the Zoltan look like a more bland peaceful creature made out of a sort of gel. But I'm not sure about the glow yet.

I'm also using more of the same colours so that people don't get too confused by the new faces, and know which is which more easily.

And since this mod only changes a few sprites. I should be able to finish this fairly quickly.
