Good news everyone!
I asked Mr. Andytizer, author of FTLWiki, to add some modding sections to the wiki and he was kind enough to do so!
I think it'd benefit us all if we started adding our mod ideas / working mods to the wiki instead of filling the general discussion board with them.
We should also collect modding information and tools under the wiki. This way we can help the modding community grow faster.

Just a bump to let everyone know I've updated the Ship Configuration page. It was missing info on the ship graphics and .XML structure.
Could probably stand to be cleaned up a little more, there are still sections of info missing, but hopefully this helps you aspiring ship builders to iron out the kinks in your designs.
