Hey everyone, I'm working on a fire-based rock ship. I'm working on a custom fire weapon for the ship, as well. I'm thinking of making the medbay unavailable in order to force the player to actually kill the enemy with fire rather than use the rockmen boarders with fire support. I also think it will create an interesting challenge, because you are likely lose some crew to cumulative incidental damage.
What I'm looking for from you guys is:
a) Thoughts on the hull. Suggestions, criticisms?
b) Thoughts on taking out the medbay? I've been thinking of just putting it in an inaccessible room, since that prevents a bug in the shops. Or is that too gamey?
Very nice looking ship! I believe that rock ships all ways have a large front section, but thats just my opinion . As for the no medbay idea, I would give the ship some sort of heal bomb. Playing with no healing is very challenging.
art and coding tutorials wanted, pm if you have some good ones please!
Good point about the front section. I'll see if there's anything I can to to beef it up a bit.
I tried the no medbay thing for half a run and I think I'm going to scrap that idea. It was intended to be difficult, but it just wasn't very much fun. Taking out the medbay doesn't really change your strategy, other than dealing with boarders (and not really being able to board yourself); it just punishes you harder for mistakes and unlucky hits.
The fire weapon is working well, by the way. It's based on the ion blast II, but intead of ion damage, it starts fires.
