Teleporter glitch?

I came across a slug ship and they teleporter onto my ship without teleporters is this supposed to be possible?

Some event have built in boarding parties. It's part of the game design, but there is no official lore explanation. If you'd like some, here's a few:

-They were stationed at a small space dock at a nearby asteroid that had a teleporter system installed.
-They were in a small shuttle craft, tagging along with the larger ship especially for the purpose of boarding
-They are equipped with small, personal teleporters much like the ones used in bomb weapon technology
