[SHIP] Normandy SR-2

Hello everyone.
I made my first ship for FTL. This is Normandy SR-2 from Mass Effect 2 game.
It's still a WIP, but fully playable. It's a little op, so I'm working with balance between defense, dodge and weapons.
I still have to do miniship and other little things.
Replace Kestrel.

Hello! Welcome to the forum!
Really nice job on the hull and gibs! : ) It's good to see ships that are not just an OP setup over a google images search result! To balance things out you could try removing some systems from the starting setup, and maybe swapping one of the two weapons with weaker versions of them. Anyway pretty cool stuff, man! ·‿·

I hoped this would get some more attention, but seeing that no one else bothered to reply... I have to say, that this is one of the best Normandies I've seen here yet. And I agree with Taxi -- the hull image is very nice, and pretty detailed. Gibs are nice too, at least way better than what I usually come up with

It's good to see someone who actually gives a damn about how the ship looks
Interesting choice with having Cloak 2 in starting loadout... Though I guess it makes sense, given that the Normandy is a stealth frigate. However, IMHO you should definitely cut some stuff down -- it's pretty damn strong as it stands now. As Taxi mentioned, weaker weapon loadout would be reasonable, and you could remove either the shielding or artillery system from the starting loadout, so that the player has to buy them (makes sense given the ship ugrades from ME2).
Removing/downgrading the shielding system would force the player to make strategic use of their cloak -- though admittedly, there's little skill involved in that... Either way, these are just my thoughts

I like this ship a lot. Honestly, this should have more attention.
Anyways, I gave it a few spins, and I quite like it.

Would you mind if I tried updating this for AE? Love this ship but an update would be awesome.

It's a great ship, linked it to all my friends, but didn't comment here, whoops.
I wish there was a way to see how many downloads a mod got.

It crashes as before you can even get to the hangar now, im trying to fix it but its not looking good.... anyone know why its crashing?
EDIT: Found out the issue I think. "PLAYER_SHIP_HARD: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Artillery is missing 'weapon' attribute."
Anyone know how to fix this? Im looking through the XML now but im not good with this stuff.
EDIT: I compared the artillery code from the Osprey to the code here and found it was missing a tag in the XML.
I changed this line:
Code: Select all
<artillery power="1" room="3" start="true" img="room_artillery"/>
To this:
Code: Select all
<artillery power="1" room="3" weapon="ARTILLERY_FED" start="true" img="room_artillery"/>
Here is the updated file, its still not updated for AE but at least now you can use the ship again without it crashing right away

if the Dev wants me to remove this just let me know. Feel free to take this and use it for the first post if you want. All the credit for this ship goes to its original creator. I simply made an edit of a file to get it working.

Based on Steve's Artillery fix I decided to update the Normandy to be AE compatible, I also tweaked the layout slightly and adjusted the stats/crew to be more balanced.
