Is there an official IRC channel for FTL?

Post by KnMn »

I've checked Quakenet and Freenode but to no avail. I think we should consider starting one if there isn't an official one already.

EDIT: Createx started #fasterthanlight on Quakenet (irc.quakenet.org) and that seems to be the most active atm. You can join by clicking here for webchat or typing /s irc.quakenet.org -j #fasterthanlight in mIRC.

Porost also started #fasterthanlight on freenode (irc.freenode.net). Feel free to check that out as well.

I made a channel on Freenode, #fasterthanlight. I'll be happy to hand over ownership if the devs ever want to make it official or make an official one somewhere else, but it's there for now. Everyone's welcome.

I was trying to find one as well, so I tried #ftl on qnet. There was no one there, but Q, so someone has it registered already.
I'll be hanging out there if I remember to join :)

Freenode may not be the best network for an IRC channel as FTL doesn't fall within their channel/network guidelines. Quakenet might be a better place as they're loosely affiliated with gaming.

I take that back - Quakenet is still using their Fight Club-style services! (The first rule about Quakenet services is don't ask about Quakenet services)

There is a channel on quakenet now, at #fasterthanlight
Ok, ftl is taken by some quakenet clan, I'm in the process of converting him to FTL proper. Till then, I'll be hanging out at #fasterthanlight on quakenet, if a few of you guys join me we can register that chan.
EDIT:
Ok, it's regged with Q. I'm current owner. I contacted the devs, they aren't active IRC users so I'll just keep the channel for now and do demonic things with it.

The Quakenet channel seems to be the most active. I have edited my original post.

I have also registered #ftl on irc.esper.net. This is where #KSPOfficial was registered (Kerbal Space Program, how I heard about FTL), and everyone was talking about FTL on the #KSPOfficial channel, so I made a new one.

There are a couple people there, and I'm there and I own it. I'll hang out in quakenet, too, so wherever there's conversation I'll go.

I like quakenet but registering your nick is way to annoying

Sorry about digging old topics, but noone will find this burried at the bottom. And i would like to see moar people playing or just visiting. I understand that not everyone enjoys IRC, and i admit that channels aren't that active, but sometimes questions are asked and answered or games reported live and it's allways friendly. So give it a try and say hello sometime.

Here's the current list of channels:

QuakeNet - #fasterthanlight
EsperNet - #lrs

Here is a little tutorial. It's old and for a different network but it's a usefull guide. You can click on the network names above to get a list of servers for the respective networks.
