[Feature Suggestion] Combat Simulator

The combat simulator would, in essence be a menu selected hostile encounter with the ship of your choice, against the ship of your choice. Tell me what you think.

Sounds like a good idea, would be great if you also got to choose infinite hull or invincible crew, as well as a selection of all the systems and weapons in the game, just so you can test them all out.

Although it DOES remove the rouge-sense kind of thing....
I always have this great idea to post about when reading a thread, but I always seem to loose the subject while writing a reply, and end up not saying anything at all. I should sleep more. Is that a cookie?

I'm somewhat opposed to the idea for the same reason I'm opposed to an "infinite mode." Just playing the combat model into the ground and having the freedom to use whatever ship config I want will ultimately diminish the significance of the game and probably hurt its longevity. Coaxing the player to unlock those hulls and find those weapons/systems via playing the roguelike game gives them a reason to play.

It's ever the nature of the clever human mind to devise means to raid the cookie jar, but rarely does this result in anything but a belly ache and the burden of excess calories.

Well, they could make it so that you can only use weapons, systems and drones that you've used at least once in the main game, and only fight against enemy hulls you've fought in the main game.

I very much like the idea of a combat simulator where you can fine tune the encounter as much as you want.

I like the idea, but to have another version as well. That randomises what vessel and equipment you have than the enemy and see if you can find tactics to get out alive. ;)

Maybe it should be only the ships you have unlocked, and still the random enemies, but you can choose the sector yourself and you have an infinite amount of scrap, just so you can test out the upgrades?

I like this idea, if there is a working battle simulator, I can refine my boss fight setup more effectively.

Just watched an episode of an anime where the protagonist ship found a strategy to defeat the superior enemy with whatever crap they could acquire through battle simulation. I want to do this as well :D
