Hi

Do you find the surrender offer more beneficial then destroying the enemy?
I do. Or it seems so.

I sometime find that surrender can be beneficial, especially if they're offering useful weaponry.

When it comes to slavers though... There is no mercy.

Hmm, when I have only three or less crew I prefer to show them some mercy and take one guaranteed man aboard.

In early sectors it depends on the offer. A weapon or augment is probably worth it; even if you don't want it, you can sell it. "Weapon Pre-Igniter? Well, you're lucky I'm feeling merciful today."

Do I need fuel or missiles? If they're offering, say, 4 or more, that might be worth it, because you're not going to get much additional scrap for blowing them up. Later on, scrap rewards are higher, so surrender offers pale in comparison.

If it's a slaver, do I need crew? Take the offer. Maybe even if you are full, if you hope to get something better than a puny Hooman. But late sector, blowing them up for scrap may be more worthwhile.

If your ship hull is in the red, taking a surrender offer could mean you might make it to a store (if you can find one). It's kinda funny when they offer surrender, and you're in worse shape than they are. Guess their sensors aren't working.

I hate it when a surrender offer pops up when I am targeting weapon #1, because option #1 also means accept surrender, and I have no idea to what I just agreed, and I probably would have blown them up. :x

I think there's something in the options menu to fix that.

Hmmm. You can reassign the weapon numbers. QWER won't work for me, as R is "return teleport" and that's way to convenient to change. But ASDF just might work and it'll keep my left hand on the home row instead of the number keys. Can't hurt to try.

I can change the dialogue options to Y/N? :o

1-4 makes the most sense. I guess I can move them over one or two; I don't use the drone ones.

Ah, no. I looked it up, and there's literally an option for "Hotkeys in dialog boxes". No Delay is the default, but you can also set it to Brief Delay and Disabled. I have mine set to Disabled.

You, sir, are awesome. I don't know how I missed that.
