Drone Self Destruct?
Is this possible? Perhaps a weapon effect that intersects the drone itself upon the final round in a burst (for offensive drones)?

What do you mean by that? Player drones that destroy themselves after attacking? If so, then that's not possible, I'm afraid.

As a player, turn the drone off

As a modder, make it a weapon instead

As a modder. There isn't a trick to make a drone hit itself with it's weapon? : /
I was envisioning some sort of extreme resource usage/decision making type of drone as a weapon. I'm already going to make a really long CD weapon (40+ secs) and give the player Pre-Igniter to give a similar feel, but it won't be quite the same without a drone version as well.

I have no idea if it'd work, but maybe you could have the drone weapon's firePoint be far in the back -- so that the drone's shots always appear behind it. Change the drone's <dodge> value to 0, so that it'll always hit itself (if it's at all possible), and change the weapon's <shots> to 2, so the first shot will kill the drone, but second will hopefully go through.

As far as I know drones can't fire in bursts. So the two shot solution might not work. Nice idea though. Not sure if drones can actually hit themselves, would be worth testing...

Still, that combined with a renamed drone recovery arm might make a decent minelayer.
