So with help from SuperLuminal ship editor an FTL dat manager program Photoshop and this forum I'm pretty close to finishing my first ship mod. I just have one problem. When i export the ship onto my desktop I have to pick a blueprint file so that my ship may replace one of the other original ships. Vanguard of Valor suggested that I use the Kestrel(Hard) Blueprint. but for some reason once im done extracting it and zipping it back up re-naming it into a .ftl folder and patching it, it does NOT seem to work. I open the game and everything, but my ship just hasnt replaced the kestrel A. I have checked and re-checked what i might be missing but nothing happens. The game just runs perfectly fine but my mod wont work. Help would be appreciated, and thank you for reading!

Could you post a temporary link to the mod? It would be easier to troubleshoot if i could look at the files. Since FTL doesn't even crash and GMM reports no errors i really can't guess what went wrong. Strange. :)

Ok, so my ship design and everything is pretty rough to be quite honest but i mostly just made it to play it for myself, and once i got better i would fix everything up and then maybe release it, i have a cache of more art like that with different ships so i might make more. either way im incredibly grateful for your help and wish you luck on the task that lies ahead since my modding abilities are terrible :/

The file room_sensors_2.png in ship/interior is not a .png file, it appears to be a zip folder?

Fiddling about with the mod i got it to work. I can't find any reason other than that foreign file as the cause of the crash.

Changes i made:
Removed <droneList count="0" drones="0">
</droneList>. - redundant
Removed the offending interior image.
Changed Y_OFFSET
6 to Y_OFFSET
2 in shipname.txt

The mod now works. Issues remaining are:
missing floorplan/image not transparent (the black box problem)
miniship image is not the correct size and is not centered.
weapon system has no power for weapons.

Yeah, like i said im not very good. But now when i try to open it into the superluminal ship editor it wont even open because it was changed manually or something and it says at the bottom that some components are mising...and for some reason it STILL wont work after i try patching it into the game...i think i just screwed it up or something :/ ill try to figure it out

My bad. Didn't realise that altering the text files would throw Superluminal off.

The mod works on my end. Why don't you try deleting everything in the resources folder and restoring data.dat and resource.dat from a backup. If you don't have a backup, install FTL to another place and copy the original resources (and back them up too).

Nearly there, the ship will fly soon. It looks nice too. This is the worst part of trying to mod FTL. Learning all the quirks is nasty but later on it gets easier. :)

ok, so i tried fixing it up by centering the mini ship and enlarging it, making the floor transparent, adding the correct amount of energy for the weapons (hopefully), and replacing all of the interior images and redoing one of them. hopefully this will work better, i also uninstalled FTL and reinstalled it to see if that would fix my problem but it didnt, ill try backing it up now.

All good. The miniship image is not included but all the other problems are fixed. For a moment i thought it was broken because i didnt realise the ship now replaces the Engi A. :D

EDIT - Correction, you need 1 more point of weapon system power to enable both weapons at once, but that is something you can leave up to the player. The Halberd can take care of single shield enemies on it's own.

so its great other people can use it, but i cant use it xD. so just wondering, could you tell me what you did to get it to work for you? cause im seriously stumped on why it wont work for me.

Edit: actually, now that i look at it, no mods are working for me, i just tried installing the beginner scrap advantage to see if it worked or maybe why it was working, and it didnt work! so its a problem with my client or whatever. So my file is good, just the mod manager is acting up or SOMETHING is going on. ugh.

Edit: Again, i tried deleting all grognaks mod manager files, reinstalling ftl, reinstalling grognaks mod manager, deleting all my save files and completely restarting it, patching different mods and etc. but nothing has worked! It's like my computer has suddenly lost the ability to patch mods in or something, its so frustrating.

That is extremely strange.... humm, do you have some cloud sync that is restoring files when you run the game?
