Game wont close

Hey guys

The issue I'm having is the game will not close unless I manually end the process in the system monitor. When I hit the exit button on the main menu or the X button on the window border, the window closes but the process is still running. Steam says I'm playing FTL when I'm not and I have to close FTL with the system monitor in order to close steam or start the game up again.

Any help would be appreciated.

Asus Sabertooth z77
Intel i5 3570k
Nvidia Geforce 660 running the "nvidia-313-updates" proprietary binary drivers
8GB of DDR3 RAM

This just started happening to me yesterday, not sure if it's since the last Steam update or if it's an Ubuntu thing. Kind of a pain.

Ubuntu 13.04 x64
Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU U9600
5 GB RAM
Mobile Intel® GM45 Express Chipset

Need to kill the process with fire:
killall -9 works... quitting from within the game, closing the window and xkill don't.
