I recently built a new PC and had to download all my games again, I downloaded FTL but when I double click the icon to play, it instantly crashes. I get a window that pops up saying it crashed and get the following error message:

I've tried verifying the game cache and re-downloading/installing FTL but to no avail.
I have the latest C++, .net framework etc etc etc
I also get this issue with Skyrim and I'm beginning to think they're linked somehow.

Re: Crashing on start-up (Steam)
FIXED
I had to change my windows account privilege levels by re-setting myself as an admin and right clicking the .exe going to the compatibility tab and selecting run as admin.
After I did this (I already had it to run as admin) it started working
