GMA4500 playable?

Post by birthdaymonkey »

I would like to get this game running on my laptop, which is a 1.86GHz c2d with Intel GMA4500 running Windows 8.

The game runs great on my desktop (of course), but I was really hoping to be able to play on the go. Unfortunately, the game is a slideshow - even the mouse cursor moves at about 3fps.

Any suggestions, or am I SOL for FTL on my lappy?

Have you checked both your laptop's manufacturer's website as well as the intel driver site directly for update video drivers? Intel drivers can be directly found here: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/default.aspx

The driver support for old intel integrated cards is pretty abysmal. The driver support for Windows 8 is also horrible. Combine the two and it can really be a mess :( I think people have gotten it to work, but those older integrated cards have caused a lot of frustration.

I'm glad you're able to enjoy it on your desktop at least.

The Game should running on GMA4500 without Problems.

I running FTL on ICH8 Chipset under Linux without Problems or Performanceproblems. Means, my Graphiccard is a GM965. And my CPU are a Intel Celeron 1.76GHZ with 2GB RAM ;)

I also vote for an issue with Windows 8 drivers.

On my Thinkpad X200 with C2D 2.4GHz, GMA X4500, and Windows 7 x64 FTL runs like a charm...
