Alright guys I have been playing FTL since release. I took like a three week break and now when I try to play the game my whole system crashes after about 5-10 minutes. For some reason the game makes my harddrive spin ridiculously fast and kicks on all my fans. I though it was overheating but this does not make any sense. I play many other games which are way more graphics heavy than FTL. For example I can play World of Tanks for 5+ hours and have no problems with the heat/fans/hard drive. Just to be clear this does not just crash to desktop but shuts down my whole computer. There is no noticable change in game performance at any time just an all of a sudden shut down. All drivers are up to date. System Specs:
Win 7 Home premium 64bit (up to date)
Samsung RC512
Intel quad core i7-2630QM 2.00 GHz(8 cpus)
Direct X 11
Nividia GeForce 550M (up to date)
500 gb free memory
6gb RAM
Thank you for your help.

Re: Wierd crash problems
Have you tried turning on the frame limiter and/or the v-sync option within the options screen? It could be overheating and those options will help. Given the simplicity of the game, sometimes a graphics card will work *too hard* and those options will let it know to calm down.
