FTL freezes my computer when I try to save and quit

Hi all. I've played FTL twice so far and when I tried to quit the game, the screen would turn black while the background music continues playing. No command seemed to work (alt F4, ctrl+alt+del), I had to hold the power button of my laptop in order to turn off the computer.
When the first time happened, I used the "save and quit" button. Second time was just "quit" from the main menu. However, the game did save from my first time, cause I was able to continue the game the second time I played the game. Other than this issue, the game runs just fine.
Does anyone have any idea? Thank you!

You should try reinstalling FTL or make sure your graphics card, if it doesn't fit on your screen try a lower resolution or 16bit

Post some details about your computer.
OS -?
RAM -?
CPU -?
graphics adapter -?
And anything else that may be usefull.
If the game freezes on you, you can try pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del to try to open the task manager and force quit the game. Although it sounds like you tried that already.

Thanks for providing you configuration's details.
What happens when you try pressing on Ctrl-Alt-Del?
Do you have any special software installed (screenshot grabber, anti-cheat systems or cheat systems, etc.)?
What version of the game are you using? Steam? GOG? Official Web Site? Did you try the latest version (1.3.x)?

I have no applications above mentioned that may effect anything of the sort. I downloaded the game from Steam. Just yesterday. I believe the first time it worked fine, but every time since, it's frozen my comp when exiting the game ANY way. Should i try ctr-alt-deleteing and end tasking? Would that make a difference? I'd rather not do that every time though. Any ideas on the problem?

I was just curious to know if Ctrl-Alt-Del was an available key combination. If it doesn't work, then it means the whole computer is definitely frozen and must be rebooted; if it works, then it means the software was frozen (maybe FTL, maybe also parts of Windows), but some parts of the operating system were still working. Not much of a help to the user, but interesting to know when you try to understand where the problem can be.
Can you also confirm that the game works fine until you try to Save&Quit?

I full reboot is required. Ctrl-alt-delete is not an option. The whole PC completely freezes. I actually did ctrl-alt-delete earlier to close the game out, and it worked, but I am unable to save. WTF is going on...ANY ideas that would help?

Someone recently had a problem similar to that where their anti-malware software was interrupting FTL's save process and locking up the whole system. Are you running any AV stuff that you could temporarily disable to see if that's the problem?

Also having this problem. It doesn't seem to be consistent, and sometimes it happens when trying to start the game as well (screen turns black but the 'LOADING' never shows up). Can't alt-tab out or ctrl-alt-delete or anything; requires hard reboot with power button.
