Hi, just bought this game on Steam but having a nasty time with a music bug. Randomly it seems my music track turns to a blast of static which is extremely annoying. I have to turn the music volume right down. Any ideas?
Running on Windows XP, under Steam. No other game play issues AFAIK

Re: Music turns to static white noise
Does this happen with any other game you play? Does it happen when you enter/exit combat? Because music changes at that point. You could try to update the sound device drivers or run a directx test to check for compatibility or errors.
I don't know what's causing this bug. You could turn the music down all the way, but that's not much of a solution.

Still trying to establish common cause(s). It certainly appears to be related to combat, especially explosions. Never happened in any other game. I will try to give a more detailed breakdown once I have tried out different things. AFAIK my directx drivers etc are all up to date as I check often but will check again.

What sound card or sound chip do you have in your computer? If it is a laptop, which brand, which model? Do you have a 32-bits version of Windows XP (most common), or a 64-bits version? It's not so much the DirectX drivers that you have to upgrade (whatever those are), but the sound card drivers.

Hi, I disabled hardware acceleration on my sound and that seems to have done the job. 32 bit Windows XP. Sound/Audio is via Nvidia and SoundMax. Only thing left to test is that I have the latest versions for these and if not, update and test again with sound acceleration.

Updated drivers for Nvidia Audio and SoundMax and now no problems at all even with hardware acceleration of sound enabled.
