I recovered the crystal pod. Activated it. Quest says to go to the Rock Homeworld. I go. No further quest markers. Sooooooo what gives. I feel supremely jipped

The Crystal questline is perhaps the most irritating for that very reason. The node you're looking for is there, somewhere, but either through oversight or intent, no quest marker displays for it. All I can say in this regard is, best luck tracking it down.
