Game Freezes After Loading

So my friend bought me FTL today (on Steam) due to it being on sale. However, every time it starts up, the Loading bar fills, and it freezes. The music plays but it just freezes. Then Windows tells me the problem is AppHangB1.

I've verified cache integrity, launched both Steam and FTL as Admin, I've googled it, but here it is, a game that is literally unplayable for me.

My processor is 2 ghz, I have 2gb of RAM (double the required) and my GPU is awful but it's dedicated, 128 MB of VRAM (the requirement) and OpenGL 2.0.

There are no crashlogs, and I've checked the text files to see if there was anything and they are empty.

Can you tell us the name of your GPU? Have you verified you have the latest drivers installed for that GPU?

It sounds like somehow you have a bad profile file, though given that you never played the game that's odd. Check out this post to find the profile file:

And delete it. And turn off Steam Cloud Syncing within the FTL properties menu in your Steam Library (right click on FTL->Properties).

If you don't have a profile file there, check for a "user" folder inside of the FTL installation folder.. very rarely something might appear there that shouldn't be there.

ATI Radeon X1400 Mobility. And yes, I have the latest drivers.

I checked the My Games/FasterThanLight folder, and it was empty. I disabled Steam Cloud Sync, and found no user folder in Steam/steamapps/common/FTL

Make sure to close FTL shortly before it would normally hang and see if anything is able to output into the stdout.txt file? Sometimes in a hang it won't be able to dump the logging.
