Actually, dizz, that's just a fluke - if you give a ship 1 weapon the UI apparently assumes it has 3, and loads the images accordingly.
I wasn't able to change the spacing, so I incorporated the Autofire button as best I could.

Sadly, I don't know of any way to change the UI layout.

Thankyou very much, Sleeps and Yizz! I'm just finishing up some gibs and trying a new cloak idea - hopefully I'll be able to put up a download page in working mods later today.

Did you consider putting the extra system UI in the floor image so it doesn't show up in enemy ships, or did you think of that and decide against it?

I like the idea, but the added benefit of doing it this way is that the status of the system is colour-coded through that symbol, so having them offset rather than clustered over the top of each other makes it much easier to read what state your ship's in at a glance.

In that screenshot, they're all grey and it's a spot confusing, but you'll thank me later when the Piloting's hacked, the Oxygen's destroyed, the Sensors ionised, Medbay half damaged, your crew are fighting boarders, and all of this is happening at the same time in the cockpit...

Also, question; anyone know where the Tips are kept?

Makes sense. I would imagine the tips are kept in misc.xml, but I'm not positive. Moding for that file requires .rawappend format if they are in there.

EDIT: Yep, the tips are at the very bottom of misc.xml.

I couldn't figure out how the start tips worked - I guess its an automatic list of everything labeled tip -so left it for now.

Used some out of context quotes from here for the mod page cuz I thought it was funny. No hard feelings ^^

When you said tips, it was assumed you meant weapon/drone tips, as those are in the misc.xml file.

The "start" tips are in the newEvents.xml file, in a textList called TIPS_LIST_PC.

Junkyard has FTL mods, mostly ships and a few other things.

I couldn't find that!
Thankyou, I shall try putting some Arwing only tips in there...

Sweet, thankyou so much!
Added a bunch of mod-specific tips at the start beacon. Hopefully it will help people who don't see the game in the same twisted way I do...

I remember a mod that once had "tips" as augments. You had two dummy augments that provide advice via their description so you know what you're getting into before the game starts.

Honestly I think it's a better idea than altering tips at the start of the game or adding a blue option for them, because I've seen mods that start you off with a blue option and they damage the crap out of your ship without warning and set it on fire and feed it to birds before the game actually starts. The ship was already underpowered to begin with and you're penalising it further with damage and fires?

An advice augment would have warned me in advance that I might be on the verge of death if I started the game with it.

HA! I've seen the first one you mentioned too.

And I could quite easily be the second.

Nah, these are actual gameplay tips that I've found through playtesting, like over-upgrading the weapons (only having 1 slot makes this rather important), and highlighting auto-cruiser quirkcs for people who haven't used them before.

I mean, I guess most people who play this mod will be fairly familiar with the core game, but layered systems, auto-ships and powerless drones aren't too common even in the hardcore modding community...
