theres a lot of blue (aka special) events in ftl.
Some are fun, some are disastrous and some outright dont care about what you think a blue event should be.
my favourite blue event:
A Mantis ship here is adorned with Rock body parts! it would be a gorier display if they had internal organs, but the message is clear enough: this is a hunter of a very specialized kind.
rock plating gives blue event, Ram the bastards!
when i first encountered it i just laughed at how they somehow implemented ramming into the game, something i SHOULD BE ABLE TO DO WHEN IM ABOUT TO DIE TO THE FLAGSHIP AND KILL THE FLAGSHIP WHILE RAMMING IT HEROICLY! REMEMBERED THROUGH THE AGES FOR SOMETHING HONOURABLE! WHY WASNT THIS A THING!?!?!?!!

Seriously, the Flagship's got like a crapton of evasion and really good engines. I think my favourite blue event is when you use a Human to calm down a confused Mantis and getting a Mantis crew member to your team or if you're in Sector 7 and at level 7 Engines and already have 4 Mantis warriors, how about a free 120 Scrap upgrade?sorry... my rage took over (Dam these traces of mantis genes!)

Although like your Rock Plating thing, this relies on the fact that you have Humans on your ship by Sector 7 and not 2-4 Mantis/Lanius warriors, 2-4 Zoltan in Shields and Engies for Pilot and Engines.
If it involves Captain's Edition, anything that involves the Teleport Disruptor.
"Hope you don't mind if we take your ship!" "Yes we do mind" "Fair enough."
"There's a problem with your medical unit!" "There's a problem with your teleport" "Jolly good show!"
"Prepare to be boarded!" "Prepare to be disrupted!" "Damn you!"
You know how much I just hate those events in the vanilla game, it's good to get payback!
