[SHIP] Interceptor

Hi, this is my first time posting a mod to this forum. I had left FTL alone for a few months, but with the update coming up, i'm getting back into it. This is a quick ship I whipped up, just a sprite bash of a few bits and pieces from ships. It's most remarkable features are the one square rooms, and the lack of airlocks, and It's directional shielding. By this I mean that the shields only protect from projectiles heading head on for front of the ship. It can't get a teleporter, or ever door control, so It starts with decent weapons.

I know it starts with a lot of augments, but it can be really hard to play due to fires (The second beacon i jumped to almost destroyed me) I am open to suggestions, and considering removing the shields. Please report any bugs that you notice, and thank you. I hope to be working on more ships soon.

Whoa, that must be what it looks like when a rock scout hatches from it's body part as a hidden shutle.

The ship hull overall is obviously small, and you should work on more additions as right now, it's more than obvious that this is a Rock ship's head. Other than that, this looks like a decent ship and I may give this a try. You're also right about removing the shields, If there's one thing that's absolutely overpowered about FTL is if you have decent guns, a pre-igniter and shields.

This is pretty neat! I'm new to the forums, but I have been looking for a small ship like this for a while. I would suggest adding a note that you should play with advanced battle system enabled. That way the cloaking is longer and you can get better weapons and such. You should also tell them to play with O2 Icons mod as well. That way you don't have to deal with the graphics problem when rooms are low.

My only real issue... What's up with the cloaking?

It looks like you're playing an older version of FTL, without the Advanced Edition update. You're not gonna have any of the AE systems, like Hacking or Mind Control....not that there's room on your ship for those systems, anyway.

I really like the fact that it is small, figthter-type ship without possibility of even getting certain systems. Directional shield is good idea, too.

What I don't like, hoever, is how ridiculously overpowered it is. As long as you keep away from asteroid fields, you're absolutely set up for mid-to-late game, with starting equipment. My suggestions - give it 4 shields from start (it's directional, so it ALWAYS will be very poor shield, no matter what, esp against drones), but remove weapon pre-igniter and Stealth Weapons. Give it long-range scanner, so it can avoid asteroid fields. Personally, I would remove one burst laser too, and replace it with single-shot one laser, but considering that it can only get 1 drone... Most people could find it too harsh.

Unlike others, I don't have problem with it being rock-head cut off. It really looks like pirate ship made from scrap, anywhere that was at hand at the moment. Basically, engines attached to part of older, larger ship wreckage. Only engi could do something like that, so replacing slug with one was good idea ;)

Definitely subscribing, and waiting what will come out of it.
