Mod Help - Editing Base Ships

Well since Superluminal is out of commission im trying to learn about XML modding. Now i know how to take a modded ship and change the weapons, power, and systems. But im not sure how i would edit the base ships. For example i wanted to change the Lanius ships starting weapons. I already extracted both .dat files. Im pretty sure the base ships are listed in the blueprints xml file. But how would I edit those ships? Make changes the recompile the dat files?

Lanius ships are located in dlcBlueprints.xml because they are part of Advanced Edition, all the old ships are located in Blueprints.xml.
If you want to change something manually, for example the Lanius ship:
Create a data folder. Copy the Lanius ship blueprint and paste it to a new text file, change what you want and save that file with the name dlcBlueprints.xml.append to your data folder (and blueprints.xml.append for the ships located in blueprints.xml).

Sorry for the double post, having problems with edit. Anyway I opened the DLCBluePrints file and found the Lanius ship area, I copied it and made a new DLCBlueprints.xml.append file and pasted in it with my weapon and crew changes. If im making this into an FTL file do I also need to copy over the anaerobic_cruiser.txt and anaerobic_cruiser.xml? Most FTL mods contain these files. Do I also have to include the ship images since im only changing weapons and crew? Thanks for the help so far.



EDIT: MUHAHHA Success! It turns out Captain Edition makes edits to the lanius ship, so all i had to do was edit his XML file with my changes. I dont plan on posting this edit anywhere so im sure its fine. Thanks for your help, your a life saver.
