kartoFlane wrote:Well, IMO the absolute easiest splicing method is taking some gib images, and removing the gray metal parts, so that you end up with parts of the original hull image. Then you can just rearrange them by moving/rotating/flipping them around, until you end up with something that looks nice to you.

At least, that's how I've created both of my ships, anyway *shrug*
Don't forget that the parts also have a red haze around the edges, which a lot of people fail to notice and/or remove. It's subtle, but looks messy if you go splicing things together without getting rid of it.

20 minutes...? Buddy if you don't have even that much patience, you're in the wrong place altogether.
Seriously, I generally try to be as encouraging and helpful as I can, but there are only two ways this can go:
-You want it badly enough that you'll find the patience, learn your tools, and craft your ship.
-You give up.

Is it frustrating to work on this kind of stuff? At times, yes. Is it worth it? Usually :) That's really up to you. But this is the kind of thing that takes hours, days, and sometimes years to learn, figure out, and get right. If you think you're going to come up with something awesome in half an hour or less, either you've been doing this for years and know GIMP (or your preferred tools) like the back of your hand, or you're wildly delusional.

Well personally when I make a hull from scratch I work on it Gib to Gib.

I classify my gibs as such
Cockpit, (normally front end of my ships)
MainHold(The larger section of my ship directly behind my cockpit)
AftHold(Section behind the main hold usually used as an extra gib)
Engines L/R(Each engine if I have any are put on each sides of the ship)
Misc Gibs that I just name as I add them such as the Bulki Slavager one of the Gibs I called the Slavage arm.

I dunno if that would help you but it makes my life easier and more manageable to create ships when I categorize my gibs.
I make mods sometimes. Check them out maybe?
