Care to explain what "linked" could even mean? Because to my eyes, it appears they're laser weapons, thus "Laser" seems like it'd make a lot more sense in the naming. Example: "Burst L. II" and "Burst L. III" are the short-names for the higher tier Burst Lasers in-game already.

I sent an email to Ben Prunty when I first saw the trailer, but never heard back. Hopefully either he or Matt & Justin will clarify this for us as we get closer to release.

I was, originally, thinking that it could be a weapon where you "link" multiple weapons where they not take up one slot on your weapons bar. That could explain why there are those dots, etc. But the laser theory sounds better. But what's the difference between a "chain" laser and a "burst" laser?

One fires frequently like a chaingun, the other fires a burst of laser bolts every once in a while?

I believe there will be a new story line... whatever that means.

No seriously, I'm vaguely aware I saw that somewhere on this site, forums or just news.

I think that orangey-tannish orby cannon thingy at 0:18-0:20 is a shot from the Cruisers in the background
In FTL v1.03.3 the cruisers just sit around and do nothing. I think in FTL AE they shoot you in addition of fighting the Elite fighter to prevent you from like camping in Rebel Fleet zones. It makes those zones an actual threat ;)

If you see something suspicious, please report it to you local Zoltan Police Station. All issues will be dealt with immediately

Yes, the "PDS" warning indicates as much.

Wouldn't it be nice if someone added a mechanic where in the case of the engines or cockpit being damaged to red, the ship would display a flashing "Slowing Down" sign, instead of just IMMEDIATELY stopping and allowing 100% chance of hit. It could, as long as the engine or cockpit is at red, slowly dwindle down in dodge percentage until it reaches 0. Sort of like a oxygen meter, but for the enemy dodge percentage. Questions, comments, concerns, statements about this anyone?

Well, if you can't control your engines, your movement suddenly becomes a predictable pattern. It's much easier to shoot at a target whose movement you can predict than one capable of making countless course changes by the time your shot actually reaches it. :P

there is no friction in space, the reason the evade goes down once the engine/ helm is taken out is because it starts to move in 1 predicable direction, there is no friction out there to slow it down like you mentioned. it will be 1 consistence direction and speed, reason why it evades with more power is because it dodges the incoming attack by changing speed or direction or what have you, etc.

I'm thinking perhaps the chain bit relates to the bubbles inside the weapon's slot in the system display as follows: let the weapon charge and then fire as soon as it's ready and it'll just operate normally. However, once the weapon is fully charged, it fills one bubble and begins to charge again. The number of filled bubbles indicates the number of shots.

So in practical terms, you could fire a shot as soon as the weapon is charged and it would fire once... or you could let it charge four times and then it would fire four times.

Dunno if I explained that sensibly. Did it make sense?
