UPDATE: This thing is nearly completed! Ive managed to whip up a working prototype .ftl file, and it kicks ass. I created gib graphics, a shield, and floor plan graphics. It seems to play just fine and I can only notice a couple of things that need fixing. I a little surprised by how quickly this was finished, being my first mod I thought it was going to be a little harder. Soon ill be ditching this thread and posting it in finished mods, thanks for the advice to those who contributed
After the events the adventure of the Shivan and its fleeing federation crew, the crystal beings from the secret sector had been persuaded that it was time to open their borders and begin to interact with the other beings of the universe. They immediately turned to the Rockmen of Vrachos IV, who were their distant descendants. The Rockmen, known for their religious zealousness, naturally treated the crystal beings as gods. After the events during the voyage of the Shivan, the crystalline beings and the rockmen have collaborated using ancient and powerful crystal weapon technology and modern rock armor techniques to retrofit the newly optimized Shivan. This new Red Tide cruiser is the federations and the rocks greatest hope for striking back at the rebel fleet and restoring the rocks sacred homeland.
Equipment at start:
Rock Plating Damaged stasis podI was compelled to add this because it gives the player a much higher chance to find more crystal weapons and crew members Crystal burstStarts with 2 (want to modify these to be red)

Pilot, II Doors, II Sensors, I Life Support, I Pilot, II Engine, III Shield, II Weapons, III Med Bay, I Reactor, 10
To do:
-Create red graphics for weapons
-Find out how to make glow images
-Fix the floor images -Create gib pieces -CHECK- -Learn how to use superluminal -CHECK- -Foorplan! and I also need to somehow create an underfloor graphic for superluminal -CHECK-

Advice: don't forget to add glow images for your pilot, engine, shield, weapons, and 1 for cloak.
Make sure to ask questions for things you don't understand.
And most of all look at examples of other mods to see how they did certain stuff or get ideas.
Also I think you may have some semi transparent parts of your type B and some in type A, is that intended?

So what do you mean by glow images for these items?
And yes you're right perhaps I should plan out what systems would be unlocked and at what power on start
Also yes the transparency is intended, it is written into the png file so hopefully that transparency translates to ftl
If not ill just have to ditch it. I was going for a crystal plated look on the rock cruiser

So here are some ideas I have for this mod:
Crystal Vengeance Cruiser Replaces Rock A
Blue Artillery beam, creates lockdown effect and has chance of puncturing the hull, pierces 2 shields and does 2 damage per room Not entirely sure you can change the beam graphic, and you DEFINITELY can't change it for one specific weapon. Impact graphic's fine, though, and the functionality seems workable. Crystal Plating, (Augment) 15% to nullify system damage and ion damage Not possible, sadly. Unless I'm mistaken, there is no augment that combines nullification of system and ion damage, and augment functionality (except for specific values on some augments) is hardcoded. Crystal Cannon, Starts with 2, single shot, pierces one shield, does 1 damage, 10 second charge
Sounds like it can work, but I'd like to point out two things: First, it is inferior to the Crystal A with that kind of armament, and second, you forgot to mention the power use and ammo consumption (if any).
You'll have to beat the rebel flagship with the Crystal Vengeance to unlock the Red Tide Not possible, as ship unlocks and achievements are, to my knowledge, hardcoded.
Red Tide Destroyer Replaces Rock B
Restricted Sector, (Augment) Blocks enemy boarders from teleporting onboard Not possible due to hardcoding. Could be wrong, though - I believe there is such an augment in cut content, but it might be non-functional. Crystal burst mkII, Starts with 1, triple shot, pierces one shield, does 1 damage, 8 second charge Again, power and ammo usage? Lockdown Bomb mkII, creates lockdown effect, breaches hull

Quite a few of these things are hardcoded. Pointed out in red.
You're right a lot of this isn't possible, Im working now on a floor plan for both ships and power consumption at start.
Perhaps instead of a blue artillery beam we could create a crystal beam weapon to use alongside the crystal cannon, I know it's inferior to the crystal cruiser but using that ship is too easy at the start
I know a teleported blocker is possible, I use one in captains edition all the time
Either way this feedback is good, ill get someone details down on this mod soon

I haven't seen the CE transport blocker, but if it's event-based, then all it does is disable one or more bars on the transporter.
I thought the CE only blocked "Advanced Teleportation" which is an event where enemies board your ship (nothing to do with ship, eg 4 mantis board your ship then 2 more from a mantis ship, or pirates. or simply no ship at all present)
But I may be mistaken.
Also, a glow image is the image that lights up the computer screen/ console of that room.
It isn't that noticeable (blue = on/ manned by level 0 crew, green = manned by level 1 (1 star) crew, yellow = manned by level 2 (2 star0 crew) but if it is missing it will darken the whole room in general.
there are 3 for Pilot, Engine, Weapons, Sheilds, and 1 for Cloak.
Lemmonade, I will just note that you will have to alter each and every one of the ship-spawning events to add in a blue choice for the augment you created.

After adding captains edition to superluminal, I found that I was able to make it start with a teleported disruptor augment, which would have functioned just fine. I opted however to make it start without it so that the mod isn't necessary for it to work. I decided instead to use rock plating and a damaged stasis pod, so the ship has a higher chance of finding more crystal weapons and crew members off the start.
Could you try it out for me and see if theres anything missing besides the room glow and room floor graphic? I added a link for the download, thanks!
