Honestly, the idea of a full engi/human crew was more of a burden for me than a dream. Boarders were impossible to deal with(I never ran into an anti-personell drone) and a teleporter crew, one of my main win conditions was impossible. By the last stand I had 5 engies and 3 humans. Not a mantis, rock or crystal in sight.
This isn't going to end well...
Threepio(Starting) was on engines, Artoo(Starting) was the pilot, Luke(Starting) was in charge of weapons and Banks(Sector 2) was on shields. The rest of the crew came later(Sectors 4-7) so I had Sem and Caris as my combat personell and Joel and Butters as the repair squad. Or so I intended it to be, because most of the time, the four of them would gang up on any boarders and murder them, with or without medbay. I was honestly surprised when my Engis annihalated a rockman+2 slug boarding crew as well as a dual mantis crew. And then repair some systems at 5x speed, which was always fun. With 3 shields, 51% evade, level 2 cloak and a ninja repair crew, I blasted my way through the Last Stand, alternating between Anti-Ship I + Defense I and Anti Ship II drones while dropping bombs everywhere, ionizing systems to death and haleberding anything in my path. I even survived the dreaded boarding drones+power surge of phase 2. The Engi Beatdown Squad took quick care of the drone, surprisingly enough. I took a beating, but I shrugged it off.
Is it even possible to have a broken system for more than 10 seconds with 5 engis repairing it?
Phase 3 was hellish. I got hit in both drone control and cloak early on, and the intruders got into piloting(and the medbay got conveniently bombed), as well as weapon control. It took all my skill and luck to avoid the constant power surges and rockets. It even regened it's zoltan shield just as I was going to deep-fry it with my Halebert beam. It's regular shields were up again though, so I powered up the small bomb. Because I had spare missiles...right?
With half of my crew dying, and having several damaged systems, this fight could go either way.
In the end, the 2 spare engis fixed up the broken systems and the humans took care of the boarders. The Flagship's shields were ionized for a few brief seconds, and one last Haleberd beam dealt the finishing blow, tearing the ship apart, granting me my second ever victory(first with the Engi A).
The Domo Arrigoto emerges victorious! I am really pleased with this run: my first victory with the Engi A and my second victory overall(My other win, with the Red-Tail, also had a Star Wars themed starting crew).
