[SOLVED] C++ runtime error unresolved

Post by maskdmirag »

I found the old post about fixing this problem here: https://getsatisfaction.com/ftlgame/top ... ror-101jua

I appear to have no profile data. I unsynced my cloud data from steam as well.

However, even more odd I downloaded the humble bundle drm free version and both copies of FTL (the steam and the non steam) give me the same error right after the loading screen completes:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

If it's crashing at the end of the loading screen with a C++ runtime error, then it really has to be a broken profile file. Both the non-Steam and the Steam installation access the same profile location, so that would explain why they both crash with the same problem.

Can you double check the profile folder, which should be in My Games/FasterThanLight?

And can you check within the FTL installation folders to see if there are any random prof.sav or user folders? It's rare, but sometimes they pop up there inexplicably.

Stick to running the non-Steam version just to be 100% certain that Steam isn't restoring things from the cloud.

And are you using any customized setups for your documents folder? Installed FTL on a second hard drive? Odd Windows username? Anything that might result in it being slightly harder to find the proper profile location?

I read the directions wrong the first time. I didn't realize the my games folder wasn't the FTL root.

I found it hiding in the My documents folder, deleted the profile and it works.

now i need to restore the stealth ship i just unlocked with the editor
