Re: Installing a mod
Are you using Grognak's Modmanager?
If not, install and use it. If you are (or if you're still having problems) come on back and ask away.
It helps if you ask specific questions. "I can't figure it out" is too vague. What exactly can't you figure out?

Re: Installing a mod
The short version:
Install GMM
copy the downloaded battlestars.ftl file into /FTL/mods
* make a backup copy of /FTL/resources folder
run GMM (dblclick main.py if modman.exe fails)
select the battlestars mod in the list and click patch.
start FTL to play the mod.
To uninstall, run GMM, select no mods, click patch and the game will be "vanilla" again. You can find specific mod details in the it's thread on the forum.
* This is optional but will help you avoid database corruption issues. Simply copy back the resources folder to restore the original files.

Re: Installing a mod
There is always a reason for which GMM won't work, and it is likely that it spews out an error report or a stack trace; if you could paste it here, it would be inifnitely easier for us to pinpoint the issue and help you.

Re: Installing a mod
It says "no compatible version of python detected on this system" even though I installed 2.7.3 like it asked.

Double click on main.py instead of modman.exe
