[SHIP] Auto-Cruiser

Post by infinityedge »

Hello, this is my first mod for FTL and also my first post on this forum. The following ships replace the Kestrel Cruiser types A and B respectively.

Type-A:
The Auto-Cruiser ship is a larger, more powerful version of the Auto-Assault and Auto-Scout class Rebel AI ships that you find in FTL. This particular one has had it's AI reprogrammed for Federation usage, and wields a powerful Artillery Beam. It only has a System Repair Drone to deal with damaged systems, however.

Pros:
-Level 2 Artillery Beam.
-No worries about fires or boarding.

Cons:
-Much worse repair capability.
-Mostly relies on artillery.

IMPORTANT: FOR THE TYPE A SHIP, DO NOT BUY MEDBAY, OXYGEN OR TELEPORTER SYSTEMS OR YOUR GAME WILL PROBABLY CRASH. JUST LETTING YOU KNOW. DON'T SAY I DIDN'T WARN YOU.

Type-B:
The Stingray not only has a Federation-style paintjob but also sports cloaking, doors and sensors to start with and the capability to install oxygen and medbay systems to support crew! However, it's artillery beam isn't quite as strong and the weapons it starts with are an Ion Bomb and Pike Beam.

Pros:
-Artillery Beam.
-Cloaking.

Cons:
-No shields!
-Does not support boarding.

IMPORTANT: THIS SHIP DOES NOT SUPPORT TELEPORTERS. IF YOU SEE THEM IN A STORE, DONT BUY THEM.

Oh, and both variants come with Slug Repair Gel. This is important because, although AI-powered ships do automatically repair systems (veerrrrryyyyyy slooowwwwwllllyyyyyyy), they can't do so if that system has a hull breach.

Gah. I'm out of luck when it comes to creating mods. Or I just suck at being original... :P

Either way, if by "doesn't support <system>" you mean that the system is not included in the ship's blueprint, then buying that system won't crash the game -- it will be merely wasted scrap, as the player will be able to buy the system, but it won't appear anywhere on the ship, system interface at the bottom of the screen, or upgrade tab. It won't be usable either.
No idea how weapons/drones system with non-zero slot values would behave, haven't tried that.
