Crystal ship with slaves bug

So I had an encounter in the Crystal Homeworlds where the enemy ship had human slaves and was hunting intruders. I fought the ship to the point where they offered me one of the slaves and I accepted. The battle did not end though. I received the new crew member but was still in combat with the ship until I destroyed it. I was using the Crystal ship myself during this encounter if that helps any.
