Actually, in my mind the bug is that you can't hit the "ship" button when in an asteroid field. It's not actually in danger unless you lower your shield, after all.

Thanks for the report, this will be fixed in the next patch.

@5thHorseman: A lot of situations can be 'safe' with the right amount of shields Dangerous environments and enemies are always considered a danger!

I'd much rather you guys make it so you can use Ship after a battle in situations like asteroid fields when your shields are at full, your oxygen level is high enough, and there's no fires/intruders remaining.

It's not just if your ship is literally in danger at that moment. The main purpose is 'because it's a game': those locations force you to make multiple jumps without upgrading, which can be dangerous and tense.

Atmosphere wise, the idea would be that those locations are dangerous to just hang out and upgrade your ship in, even if they're temporarily safe. Are you going to tell Charlie go do a space walk to install the new weapon in the middle of an asteroid field?

I would assume Charlie would be inside the shield.

It makes sense for solar flare areas but not so much asteroid fields.
