Game won't run after my reformat

Post by rhev »

Hello,

I've got almost 200 hours played in FTL and often tell people how it's my favorite game. But my hard drive recently crashed and after reformatting and re-installing everything, FTL won't load up.

I run FTL through steam, but when I try to boot I get the following message:

LoadLibrary failed with error 998:Invalid access to memory location.

The error message is accompanied by an FTL sized window that's all white. A google search shows a similar error message being shown for other games when they don't have the right videocard drivers. But I went and made sure I had the most recent drivers and the issue is still happening. (ATI Raedeon 5700 series).

Any thoughts?

I had one other player experience a similar problem. He fixed it uninstalling his drivers / CCC and reinstalling them. You can see his post here:

I know it's seems silly to do that, but might be worth a shot if you haven't tried.

That did the trick, thank you very very much!

PS, I used the Revo trial software to make sure i got all of CCC out of my system before reinstalling.
