Save on close - fail saving game,stats, achievements, ships

hi great game but i am having trouble.

every time i start the game it starts as if i am playing it for the first time. any game i try to " exit and save " then re start the continue is greyed out. checking the stats shows no score, any ship i unlock is lost.

any ideas? i tried doing the whole steam check and fix files with no luck.

ok so people know i am using comodo anti-v, a very aggressive anti-v at that!
if you have the same problem
open comodo and go to defense tab - select untrecognised files - find the ftl and add to trusted!

win!
