Re: Final Boss Guide (Spoilers)
Wow, I have tried all day to win with the Zoltan B or the Stealth Ship B. All fail on normal and Easy. sigh. What a way to waste a day way. lol
I think I prefer the Zoltan B though. At least I need far less luck to make that ship work. I will win on normal with one of these ships. I SWEAR IT......even if it kills me lol.
Honestly, the stealth ship B is terrible gamble. Why start with stealth when you sacrifice shields and then have to run around searching for a store that has them AND have the money to buy it.
Compare this to the Zoltan B which at least has the Zoltan shield and better starting weapons. Not to mention theres no need to buy shields from a store and upgrading to your first shields is at a 50 scrap discount over the stealth ship.
Edit:
Normal is just way to hard. Starting with only 3 Zoltans is crippling. I can't deal with enemy boarding parties at all unless I'm lucky with getting crew. Theres just too much I need with a Zoltan ship. I need more weapons, I need to get my shield, I need more crew. I'll leave beat normal to my Kestrel B. I've beaten easy with the Stealth A so now I'll beat easy with a Zoltan B.

Boarding Party strategy should be to ventilate all areas except the med-bay, you might take a few shots while you have no pilot- but you have a better chance of surviving the fight.

Re: Final Boss Guide (Spoilers)
Zoltan B is not as strong as Zoltan A, but is a very powerfull ship. Maybe you were trying to hard.
Try to figure out what makes the ship tick, what it's good and bad at. Then change your playstyle to match. It's not allways fun for every ship but it gets better results than trying to play everything like it was the Kestrel. For example, you practically don't need shields on either Zoltan cruiser. My shield guys never get any damn skill ranks and the only reason i even have someone in there is to use 2 Zoltan and enjoy ion immunity.
FTL is a harsh teacher, but you must learn. If it makes you feel any better, i sucked harder than i sucked at any other ship until i figured out how to play Zoltans.

Re: Final Boss Guide (Spoilers)
Seriously, I think its just bad luck. Several times I've played the stealth or Zoltan B ships I've either failed to find shields or additional weapons leading to my death in sector 3 or 4. I think they are cursed ships. lol
Oddly enough, I have A LOT LESS problems beating normal with more balanced ships like the Kestrel.
Edit: playing the Stealth A right now. Sector 1 + 2 = 3 shops = no shield and no weapons = move to sector 3 and start dieing to
2 shield enemies with not a shop in sight........................I swear these ships are cursed.
I think that must be something like between 10 to 20 attempts with and only twice have I made it to the second to last sector only to die.
The only weapons I consistently find are beam weapons. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF..........give me a burst laser mk 2 and I'd win this, I know it.
I got a Pegasus once for free only to run out of missiles with no shields and no shops in sight...death.......
Edit: Wait, sector 2. Got a free defense drone mk 2 from sector 1 and sold it to get a BURST LASER MK2 in
sector 2. And I killed enough ships to get a my shields in yet another shop! AND ON TOP OF ALL THAT I GOT A FREE HALBERD!
This might be it. After countless hours wasted, I might finally be on the path of victory with the Stealth A. These weapons are enough to last me the rest of the game. All I need now is a crew teleporter (thankfully these are never hard to find) and more crew. I have already found 1 human (whos now manning my new shield station and 1 Engi so I'm off the an amazing start.
Wish me Luck, I'm going to need it with this cursed ship. lol

So then are you suggesting... if you can't get weapons capable of overcoming the current flavor of enemies- make for greener pastures until you can? Because that seems a bit like a downward spiral that is going to end poorly.

Re: Final Boss Guide (Spoilers)
I beat the final boss on normal with the stealth A last night. All I need was to find some decent weapons and my be able to find shield tech in a store. Countless playthroughs and either one or the other was missing, costing em the game. Sigh. But I posted my victory in the highscore thread because the score was the best I've gotten so far. Almost 6k and that was with practically no boarding.
