Quest Glitch and Defense Drone Save Glitch

1) I had a 'My shipment is late' quest. When I jumped to the quest beacon I got a standard 'Research Station Distress Beacon' event. I sent my crew in and my boarder died, in the usual way when you send crew into that event.


That got me pissed


2) After defeating stage 1 of the flagship in the redtail, I saved and quit with the defense drone active. When I came back the defense drone had vanished but was still powered. I jumped and the drone was still powered, and I had lost no drone parts, and it was still invisible. It still existed though, because laser appeared where it would be and shot down missiles and boarding drones.

It hasn't updated itself, and I cant find an update button. I guess I should switch to steam, but then I'd lose my ships D:

And dont worry about my crew member, he's gone to the great ship in the sky...
...and I was fortunate enough to be bristling with guns and won anyway.

There is only an option to re download the game,wont this make me lose my data?

Your data will preserve across an upgrade.

Yeah, profile and saved game are kept separately from the main game, so you can uninstall and reinstall or upgrade to your heart's content. Matthew and Justin designed it this way.
