Running the game.

Post by Lemkinator »

Hello, I am wanting to buy the game and decided to check the Systemrequirementslab website to see if I can run this game.

It said that my system fails the requirement, giving me the problem:
Video Card
Minimum: OpenGL 2.0 Support, and recommended dedicated graphics card with 128 MB of RAM(Some integrated Intel HD graphics cards have been known to work but are not officially supported.)
You Have: GeForce 7300 LE
Features: Minimum attributes of your Video Card
Required You Have
Dedicated Video RAM 128 MB 512 MB

Upon checking the Nvidia website and updating my graphics card drivers, i still get the same error. However, according to the nvidia website, my graphics card is supposed to support the OpenGL 2.0 deal.

Will I still be able to run this game or no? If not, is there anything I can do short of upgrading the specs on my computer to play it?

Thank you

Supposed is the tricky word here. A lot of video cards have only partial OpenGL support and some also have wonky drivers that complicate matters more. At a glance that card doesn't look too bad, but most user impressions are negative. It should run the game though.

I suggest you buy the game here from the website, and if it doesn't work then ask for a refund. Can't get more fair than that.

So if I do buy it from here, and it doesn't work because of my computer specs, how likely is it that I do get a refund?

It has been offered by the devs several times when it was a case of incompatibility that could not be resolved. Some PCs just plain refuse to run the game. :(

Update:

I downloaded the game and can run it. The only problem i have is when im in the Nebula, my game runs at about 1/3rd speed and in full screen mode it feels a tad slower.. Though thats probably because i just top the minimum requirements. Other than that, the game runs just dandy.

\o/ Glad it works! :D Too bad about the slowdowns though. Maybe try to chane Frame Limiter: to On in the options, and see if it makes a difference.

Hello! In the options screen you can turn off "Dynamic Backgrounds" and that will make the nebula slowdown go away.. though they'll look less interesting too.

And as a belated response for future people: If FTL is purchased directly from our website, we will happily refund anyone who is unable to run the game (or other reasons you might be unhappy). Just shoot us an email (devteam@ftlgame.com).
