I once lost 4 boarders to an enemy ftl jump at the last fight in sector 7.

Literally just happened to me.

An enemy mantis ship (the one which runs away and gets the bigger ship it would turn out) attacked and was fairly easily beat down. I was using the Red-tail and had two Heavy Lasers MK I, one Burst Laser MK I and a Fire Beam. After fending of the enemies boarders and disabling their weapons, shields and med bay (as well as setting much of the ship alight), I realised that the only two surviving crew had ran away from the burning med bay. This should have been my hint for not teleporting over, but you know what they say about hindsight. As soon as my Mantis crew materialised on the deck did they jump away...

I kept the game running long enough to follow them and discover the fate of my faithful giant-bug-space-monsters to find no trace of them. Cue rage quit -> coming to the forums -> seeing this post and typing this.

Learning this wonderful game through the school of hard knocks.
I recently managed to get a teleporter and managed to buy two mantis crewmembers.
Yahoo! Time to try out boarding the enemy!

Quite soon after teleporting them to shred the systems of a Rebel AI ship I learned why I should not have done so.

Not without a level 2 teleporter at least. It recycles faster.

Ever since they added the FTL charging, FTL delayed, FTL imminent. Its much safer to board. You know when you need to pull out if your attack isn't delaying them enough.
