Just bought the game yesterday on steam for 50% discount (yay)
I had no problems whatsoever while playing, it ran like a dream.
But when I launched the game today, it...well, "flinched"
doors opening and closing like crazy, shields going up and down at will etc...
After a few google searches, I found out that framerate limit might be the solution.
So, after I inabled framerate limit, the game worked better,
but not the "smooth as silk" gameplay as I saw yesterday.
still shields and door flinching every now and then....
Any concrete solutions to this?
[SOLVED] The game "flinches". Quite badly.

I suppose you are running the game under Windows?
What graphics card do you use? Have you verified your drivers are up-to-date?
Do you have other software installed that could somehow trouble FTL? Global hotkey programs, screen grabbers, video recorders, something else?
Do you use the Steam overlay? Have you tried disabling it?

Strange behavior like that is usually fixed by one of two things:
1) Verify the game cache in Steam. (Right click on FTL in the Library and go to Properties. It's an option under the Local Files tab)
2) Updating your video drivers. I know you already said they're up to date, but just to make sure everything is ok you might want to uninstall the current ones and reinstall the most up to date.
